About The University of Juba

Established in 1975, the University of Juba (UJ) is one of the most respected universities in South Sudan, with a mission to become a regional and global center of excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.

UJ has shown remarkable resilience throughout its history. In 1989, amid national conflict, the university temporarily relocated to Khartoum, where it continued to expand its academic and research programs. Despite challenges, UJ remained committed to academic excellence and public service.

Following South Sudan’s independence in 2011, the university returned to its original home in Juba, ushering in a renewed chapter in its legacy. Today, it plays a central role in shaping the country’s future by offering diverse programs and contributing to higher education in South Sudan.

Programs Offered

Undergraduate Programs:

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSc IT)

  • Eligibility: High school diploma or equivalent with a strong foundation in mathematics and science.
  • Duration: 3 to 4 years

Bachelor of Science in Public Health

  • Eligibility: High school diploma with a focus on biology and chemistry.
  • Duration: 3 to 4 years

Bachelor of Science in Data Management

  • Eligibility: High school diploma with proficiency in mathematics and computer science.
  • Duration: 3 to 4 years

Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence (AI)

  • Eligibility: High school diploma with strong performance in mathematics and science subjects.
  • Duration: 3 to 4 years

Postgraduate Programs:

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

  • Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree in any field from an acknowledged university.
  • Duration: 2 years

This was evident in our decision to relocate to Khartoum in 1989, where we continued to expand our academic and research endeavors. Our commitment to quality education was unwavering. South Sudan’s independence in 2011 marked a significant milestone, and the University proudly returned to its original location in Juba, heralding a new era in our journey.
