The Open University of Tanzania (OUT) was established by the Parliament of Tanzania in 1992 under Act No. 17 with the mission of democratizing education and making higher education accessible to all. OUT offers accredited programs through a flexible open and distance learning system, upholding rigorous academic standards set by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU). The institution operates under the OUT Charter and Rules (2007) and continuously adapts to meet the evolving needs of learners by employing various learning modalities including face-to-face instruction, broadcasting, telecasting, correspondence, seminars, e-learning, and blended approaches.
