Mzuzu University, located in Luwinga, Mzuzu City, in Malawi’s northern region, stands as a cornerstone of higher education in the nation. Established in 1997 from a former teachers training college dating back to the 1970s, it welcomed its inaugural cohort of students in 1999. At its inception, the university boasted notable figures, including Malawi’s former president Bakili Muluzi as Chancellor and Professor Terrence Davis as its first Vice-Chancellor. Instrumental in its foundation was Professor Peter Mwanza, who later transitioned into politics, serving as both Chairman of the University Council and subsequently as Vice-Chancellor.
