About Mogadishu University
Founded in 1997 amidst the turmoil of Mogadishu’s civil war, Mogadishu University (MU) endured significant challenges, including looting and forced relocations. Despite these hardships, its founders were determined to create a non-state, non-profit institution dedicated to providing quality education and driving societal change. From its modest beginnings in a privately owned house to its move to the abandoned Mohamud Ahmed Ali school building, MU’s journey is a testament to resilience in the face of adversity.

Today, MU stands as one of the largest universities in Somalia and East Africa, working with various partners to advance its strategic objectives and make a meaningful impact on the region’s growth.
