Description
About Malawi Adventist University
Malawi Adventist University (MAU) traces its roots back to an initiative by the Executive Committee of the Malawi Union Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In 1996, the committee decided to elevate Lakeview Seminary to Junior College status, with the goal of offering four-year degree programs through affiliation with an existing university. Negotiations with the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton began, aiming to align with its academic offerings. In January 2000, Malawi Adventist College was inaugurated to realize this vision, marking the commencement of its journey in higher education.

MAU’s journey has been marked by strategic partnerships and affiliations that have strengthened its academic standing. A significant milestone was reached in May 2007 with the signing of an Affiliation Agreement with the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton. This agreement officially solidified its connection and paved the way for its growth into a fully-fledged university. This expansion also included the integration of Malamulo College of Health Sciences as a constituent college of MAU, enriching its academic portfolio. The transition from a junior college to an affiliated university heralded a new chapter for MAU, amplifying its commitment to providing quality education grounded in the principles of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
