About Us
The Chinhoyi Degree programs, a prestigious establishment by the University of Zimbabwe, were initiated in 1999. This significant step was a result of the Chetsanga Commission’s recommendation to elevate technical colleges into degree-granting institutions. Under the umbrella of the University of Zimbabwe, these programs, including Production Engineering, Hospitality, and Tourism, began their journey. In 2001, the Chinhoyi University of Technology was born, a testament to academic excellence, through Act of Parliament number 15, with His Excellency President Robert Gabriel Mugabe overseeing its foundation. Professor Charles Muchemwa Nherera was appointed Acting Pro-Vice Chancellor to lead the institution’s development.
The formal installation of the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor took place on 23 November 2003 in a ceremony that garnered nationwide attention. In its transition to a university, Chinhoyi University of Technology was committed to upgrading former college programs to diploma programs and establishing relevant academic regulations. The university conducted departmental audits, advertised positions nationally, and implemented rigorous yet fair selection processes to integrate former college staff, ensuring a diverse and experienced faculty. Supported by relatively good government infrastructure, the university also embraced students from HEXCO and DTE, fostering a rich and inclusive learning environment.

- Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience.
